Report: Baker Mayfield ‘not going to exactly miss Hue Jackson’

As the football news world focuses on Cleveland, lots of stories and reports are flying with the firing of Browns head coach Hue Jackson. One in particular which bears some attention comes from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

The veteran league insider said in a live bit on NFL Network that Baker Mayfield is “not going to exactly miss Hue Jackson” as his head coach.

Rapoport spoke extensively of the coordinator and communication issues with the Browns under Jackson.

Mayfield, the No. 1 overall pick, has progressively struggled in the offense. Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley have sparred about control of the playcalling, and the dysfunction bled onto the field.

The rookie QB was noted for his willingness to speak his mind coming out of Oklahoma, which some critics viewed as a negative. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in a polarized media.
